Anthony Albanese has to remove either the Immigration Minister or the Home Affairs Minister after they “ran for cover” at the end of a press conference about detainee policies, says Bondi Partners Senior Advisor Peter McGauran. “Because why have we got two Immigration ministers, or one under the titular head of Home Affairs at the one press conference which only lasted 11 minutes and then they ran for cover,” he told Sky News Australia. “Andrew Giles is not up to the Immigration job – he is a former Immigration lawyer and an advocate for refugees. “Clare O’Neil is the senior minister, should be handling it all. “Either merge Andrew Giles’ roles or responsibilities into the bigger department and let her manage and prosecute these issues or get rid of one of them.”
