Labour housebuilding plans will mean 'bulldozing green belt sites', says shadow housing mi
The shadow housing secretary says Labour is unfairly targeting rural areas for housing development. Kevin Hollinrake said the Tories are "not against building more homes" but they oppose "bulldozing green belt sites". "We'll see many of these homes delivered in rural areas, yet a lowering of targets in urban areas, particularly London," he said, which he argued is not "fair". "I'm not saying no green belt can ever be built on it," he continued. "It's just making sure it is fair, and the green belt is used where it's absolutely necessary. "But that's not what we're seeing in these plans." Labour wants to be build 370,000 new homes each year before the next election. Councils will have 12 weeks to provide a building roadmap or have a plan forced upon them. https://news.sky.com/story/government-demands-immediate-mandatory-housing-plans-from-councils-to-build-1-5m-homes-13271785 #housing #skynews #politicshub SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel for more videos: http://www.youtube.com/skynews Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/skynews Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/skynews Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/skynews Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@skynews For more content go to http://news.sky.com and download our apps: Apple https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/sky-news/id316391924?mt=8 Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bskyb.skynews.android&hl=en_GB Sky News Daily podcast is available for free here: https://podfollow.com/skynewsdaily/ Sky News videos are now available in Spanish here/Los video de Sky News están disponibles en español aquí: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzG5BnqHO8oNlrPDW9CYJog To enquire about licensing Sky News content, you can find more information here: https://news.sky.com/info/library-sales
