Landslide kills 13 in southern Thailand

Thirteen people were confirmed dead following a landslide in Phuket, according to the provincial governor on Saturday (August 24). Additionally, 19 people were injured and 209 households affected, according to the governor’s statement. The landslide, triggered by heavy rains from Thursday (August 22) night into Friday (August 23), occurred behind the Big Buddha, a popular tourist attraction.
