LAPD Sergeant helps determined 8th grader cross LA Marathon finish line

Over 20,000 people participated in the 2024 LA Marathon. One of them was a very determined 8th grader.⁠ ⁠ Leobardo Dorado had made it to mile 26 in the 26.2-mile race when he collapsed. LAPD Sgt. Jay Balgemino worked near the finish line Sunday and stepped in to help.⁠ ⁠ After being treated by paramedics, the young runner said he still wanted to finish the race.⁠ ⁠ With the help of Sgt. Balgemino and his sister, Dorado crossed the finish line.
