“Leave by air now”: Joly warns after 2 Canadians killed in Lebanon

Since October 2023, the federal government has advised Canadians to leave Lebanon while commercial options remain available. On Wednesday, Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly told those who haven't left yet to “leave by air now.” “Just bombardment everywhere. There is no safe zone. Some of them, they have found places to stay and some of them are still in the street,” said Lebanese-Canadian Nour Kadri, who lives in Quebec but has family in Beirut. There are an estimated 45,000 Canadian citizens in Lebanon, while another 400,000 people of Lebanese descent call Canada home. Global’s Touria Izri reports.
