Linda Burney has defended the federal government's decision to enforce a recent curfew in Alice Springs. The town's second curfew in only four months was imposed after a fight involving 80 people and a separate incident where four police officers were assaulted. The Minister for Indigenous Australians says the curfew was important and “gave the opportunity for calmness to descend on Alice Springs." Indigenous advocate Warren Mundine also criticized the government's handling of the crisis, citing a "failure of leadership".
