Littering and aging infrastructure fuel blockages in Johannesburg roads

President Cyril Ramaphosa used his State of The Nation Address to claim South Africa’s infrastructure quality is improving. But, the Johannesburg Roads Agency has a different view. Its acting CEO, Zweli Nyathi, says aging infrastructure and litter are two of the biggest challenges to improving road conditions that continue to deteriorate. Today teams are out and about clearing blocked drains, storm water systems and bridges that impede water flow.
