With the storm approaching, meteorologists have a clearer picture of what to expect for today and tomorrow, just ahead of the big game in DFW. Here’s the latest forecast: Most of today’s precipitation will be a slushy mix of sleet and rain, with less snow during the daytime hours. Kids, do not expect to make a snowman during your snow day today—we will see most of the snow tomorrow morning. Temperatures will remain at or above freezing in most areas. Across the Metroplex, expect mid-30s this morning, except in McKinney and northern areas, where temperatures may dip into the high 20s. A chance of sleet is expected early this morning before temperatures rise, leading to wet—rather than frozen—road conditions. The heaviest snowfall will begin after dark and continue past midnight. Moderate snow is expected for several hours in the early evening, starting around 8 p.m. Snowfall should mostly be over by sunrise Friday morning. Southern parts of the metroplex are expected to get 1 to 3 inches of snow, while northern parts are expected to get 3 to 6 inches. No additional snowfall is expected Friday morning, but slick roads are likely until temperatures rise above freezing between 10 and 11 a.m. Travel during the afternoon should be safe for the Cotton Bowl, but be cautious of potential refreezing overnight. Roads may become slippery again early Saturday morning.
