LNP candidate promises to get tough on youth crime after personal tragedy

Capalaba LNP candidate Russell Field has promised to get tough on youth crime as he opened up about his decision to run in the Queensland election. Mr Field tragically lost his son, daughter-in-law and unborn grandchild after they were killed by a teenager driving a stolen car in 2021. The LNP candidate will contest the safe Labor seat where the incident happened. “When the accident happened I had no intentions of standing up and being in politics,” Mr Field told Sky News Australia. “You go through life all the way through and you think, ‘What am I going to do?’. Something has to be done. It has to change.”
