As the night falls over Los Angeles, the Palisades Fire burns with alarming ferocity, turning parts of this world-famous city into a hellscape. The Palisades Fire, now in its fifth day, has seen firefighters racing to cut off the spread of flames that have been chewing through homes in the greater Los Angeles area. In Mandeville Canyon, a neighborhood home to celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger, the battle is particularly fierce. Helicopters have been seen swooping in to dump water on the blaze as it charges downhill, while on the ground, firefighters use hoses to combat the leaping flames amidst thick smoke covering the chaparral-covered hillside.
