‘Lost a bit of skin’: Negative campaigns hit Peter Dutton’s popularity

Former Labor senator John Black claims Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has “lost a bit of skin” from the negative campaigns launched against him. “He’s lost a bit of skin in the last three or four weeks,” Mr Black said. “Negative campaigns are pursued by political parties because they tend to work, at least in the short term and I think they have worked to take a bit of the gloss off him. “It would be a mistake for him to respond in kind, I think. He’s better off to put out some policies in terms of trying to win over those people who are voting against Labor but not necessarily switching their preference votes to the Coalition.”
