We will increase gas consumption from 6.5 kg to 15 kg per person per year, and enhance the penetration of gas usage from the current 24 percent to 70 per cent. These are sentiments by President William Ruto who now says the government is working with the private sector to establish a common-user import facility at the kenya petroleum refineries. In addition, the country will also begin to buy gas through an open tender system to ensure Kenyans access it at competitive prices. This comes over a year after the president promised to lower the prices of cooking gas cylinders which is yet to take effect to date.
