Luigi Mangione arrest: Suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO killing to plead not guilty, lawyer says
Luigi Mangione, the man arrested in connection with the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is expected to fight extradition to New York where he has been charged with murder. Speaking with reporters on Tuesday evening, following a court appearance earlier that afternoon, defence lawyer Thomas Dickey said he had advised his client Mangione to not waive extradition and to plead not guilty to charges he faces in Pennsylvania and New York. "I haven't seen any evidence that says he's the shooter," he said. "The fundamental concept of American justice is a presumption of innocence until you're proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt, and I've seen zero evidence at this point." Dickey said he has requested an additional hearing on the extradition request. Mangione’s next court appearance on the Pennsylvania charges is scheduled for Dec. 23, according to an online court calendar.
