Melbourne University Computing and IT Lecturer Suelette Dreyfus says CrowdStrike’s outage shows “how easily” Australia’s tech systems can be brought down. “It’s just given a really good indication – and this wasn’t even an attack – how easily our systems can be brought down if we’re not careful,” she told Sky News Australia. On Friday, operations at some of Australia’s biggest companies were thrown into chaos for hours from an update which was rolled out by CrowdStrike which instead resulted in an IT blackout.
