The Barbados Water Authority has seen an increase in the number of delinquent customers in recent months. In fact, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight, says the agency is only able to cover 96 per cent of its overhead costs. She was speaking during a debate on a Resolution to approve the borrowing of 12.4 million US dollars from the Caricom Development Fund. The money will be used to co-finance and augment the 3Rs, that is reduce, reuse and recycle, for the climate-resilient wastewater systems project. The loan has a fixed interest rate of three per cent per annum and will be repaid over 12 years, with a two-year grace period. Senator Dr. Munro-Knight is stressing the importance of customers paying their bills.
