Malaysia's ex-finance minister Daim pleads not guilty to failing to declare assets
Malaysia's former finance minister Daim Zainuddin has pleaded not guilty to an asset disclosure charge. He allegedly failed to comply with a notice to declare his assets -- seven luxury cars, 38 companies and 25 properties across Malaysia -- under the country's anti-corruption laws. The prosecution requested for Mr Daim to surrender his passport and to report to the anti-corruption commission office monthly. However, the defence argued Mr Daim, 85, is in poor health and requires constant caregiver assistance. Bail was set at RM280,000 ($59,000). Afifah Ariffin reports.
