Malaysia’s top court declares 18 Islamic laws enacted by Kelantan null and void

The Federal Court in Malaysia has declared more than a dozen Islamic laws enacted by the state of Kelantan as unconstitutional. This includes criminalising sodomy, incest and the desecration of places of worship. The 8-to-1 decision is seen as a landmark move which could affect similar sharia laws in other parts of the Muslim-majority country. Afifah Ariffin with this report.
