Eighty underachieving male students who are about to enter secondary school will benefit from this year's Babb's Reading Clinic. Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw, is encouraging the children who will receive free instructions in basic reading skills, reading comprehension techniques, team building exercises and counselling, to put what they learn into practice. Ms Archer-Bradshaw was addressing today's opening ceremony of the clinic which will be held at the Barbados Community Community (BCC) over the next five weeks. Meanwhile, founder of the reading clinic, Dr. Astra Babb, is extending gratitude to the Sandy Lane Charitable Trust, Maria Holder Memorial Trust, Scotiabank Barbados, and the Barbados Community College for helping to sponsor the initiative. Dr. Babb is stressing that the teaching of reading is a specialised area which if misunderstood can lead to serious damage to a student and inhibit their learning capacity.
