Malnutrition, malaria, HIV infections and pneumonia are among the leading causes of death in children under 5 in Kenya. This is according to a study by the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) which has piloted a first-of-its-kind research program in Africa. It provides mobile mortuary services as part of child mortality studies, to design more effective interventions for the prevention of child mortality.
