MARCH TO PARLIAMENT PROTEST AGAINST CORRUPTION: POLICE COMMITS TO AVERT ARRANGEMENTS

All police territorial commanders have been instructed to enhance their operations in response to the planned unlawful demonstration, known as the "March to Parliament." Field Force detachments have been directed to prepare a Quick Response Force (QRF). On July 18, 2024, the police authorities met with the alleged organizers of the protest against corruption by various officials, particularly parliamentarians. The Uganda Police Force is committed to combating the planned illegal protest against corruption, known as the "March to Parliament." All Police sector commanders in have received special instructions to prevent the alleged protest. Inter-security agencies are committed to preventing any unlawful assemblies that aim to disrupt the rights of others. In response to accusations of selective application of public assembly regulations, the police defend their actions, stating they always collaborate with organized groups.
