Mark Carney wins race to replace Justin Trudeau as Canada's PM, Liberal Party leader
It's the end of an era in Canada. After nearly a decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the country has a new Prime Minister designate. Former banker and economist Mark Carney saw off three other candidates vying to become leader of the Liberal Party, in a campaign that saw Donald Trump's tariff war dominate the debate. Carney is expected to call an early election and he'll face a stiff challenge from the Opposition conservatives who have been leading the polls.
