Mentoring programme launched
A project set at steering the nation's youth in the right direction has been launched. The Red Foundation's Community High Achievers Mentoring Programme or CHAMP, is starting with 20 mentees and ten mentors, as they reach out to wider society to get on board. Patron, the Most Honourable Stedson 'Red Plastic Bag' Wiltshire says while many people talk about the state of the youth, it's time to be the intervention that is needed. Senator John King says more cultural penetration is needed to bring about change. He notes as time has evolved so too has parenting, but there is no manual to set the tone. Consultant for CHAMP Shawn Clarke, who conceptualised the mentorship programme, says statistics suggest mentoring can help with some of the deviant behaviour displayed by youth. He believes a contribution can be made to saving the nation's youth and getting society back on track.
