Meta ending Australian news content deal a ‘hammer blow’ to journalism

Shadow Communications Minister David Coleman says Meta ending its Australian news content deal would be a “hammer blow” to journalism in the nation. Mr Coleman joined Sky News Australia to discuss Meta’s recent decision to stop paying for Australian news content. “The government can huff and puff all it likes,” he said. “But the question is – will the government make Meta pay? “We did that when in government, and all this boils down to is will the government require Meta to pay because if they don’t – if Meta doesn’t pay, that is a hammer blow for Australian journalism.”
