Classes at the Lester Vaughan School will be held online from tomorrow until the Ministry of Education says otherwise. This after teachers and students fell ill today, forcing the early closure of the St. Thomas institution, which has been plagued by environmental issues for several weeks. The decision has been announced by Chief Education Officer Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw. It follows a meeting at the Ministry of Education, involving the School's management and Board members, along with teachers' unions and education officials. The Chief Education Officer adds that during the meeting they also explored possible ways to facilitate students doing their school-based assessments. President of the Barbados Secondary Teachers Union Mary-Anne Redman says she's very pleased with the outcome of the discussions. Second Vice President of the Barbados Union of Teachers Andre Holder has voiced his appreciation for the efforts being made to resolve the issues.
