Mexico & Panama to establish missions in Barbados
The governments of Mexico and Panama will be establishing missions in Barbados. The announcement by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kerrie Symmonds came during Government's post Cabinet press briefing this morning. He says Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley's international advocacy in the fight against climate change is one of the reasons why the two countries are interested in deepening their relationship with Barbados. Mr. Symmonds says the expected benefits include increased trade and a greater variety of products for Barbadian shoppers. He also revealed the government of Colombia has also expressed interest in setting up a mission on the island. However, he explains Colombia also has a mission in Trinidad, so a determination is to be made on whether a separate or joint mission will be set up.
