2024 was a historic year for Mexico as the country elected its first woman president with an overwhelming majority. But Claudia Sheinbaum inherited a heavily indebted country with record-breaking levels of violence. And with Donald Trump winning the presidency in November the stakes for 2025 rose significantly.
