MHMC Receives Historic $11 Million Donation from the Government of Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia's main hospitals accrued millions of dollars in debt. Mounting debt hampered the Millennium Heights Medical Complex (MHMC) and affected service delivery at the OKEU Hospital for decades. By 2024, MHMC had $16 million in outstanding debt on its books. MHMC needed financial assistance. On July 18, 2024, Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre and his Cabinet met with MHMC and OKEU officials to find a solution. Prime Minister Pierre secured the funds within six weeks of the July 18 meeting with MHMC and OKEU officials. On August 23, 2024, MHMC received a historic $11 million donation from the Government of Saint Lucia. The funds were sourced from the Saint Lucia Citizenship by Investment Programme following a successful meeting with its board. The donation from the government will considerably reduce MHMC's debt and allow its board and management to focus on providing high-quality healthcare to the public.
