Chinese researchers found microplastics in blood clots surgically removed from arteries in the heart, brain, and deep veins, linking them to conditions like heart attacks, strokes, and deep vein thrombosis. The study analyzed 30 patients and discovered microplastics in 24 of the blood clots, including common plastics like polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride. The findings suggest that microplastics may contribute to clot formation and worsen clotting. However, further research is required to establish a clear causal relationship.
