Millions charged with illegal fees by NSW government

The New South Wales government has launched an investigation after millions of customers were wrongly charged illegal fees. Around $144 million in merchant fees were unlawfully charged on 92 million transactions from Revenue New South Wales and Service New South Wales since 2016. It's understood the discovery of the illegal fees was made during a review of departmental financial statements by the state's Auditor-General.
