Mining production | Sector struggles to dig itself out of trouble

The mining sector is struggling to dig itself out of the current downturn. The latest data from StatsSA shows that production decreased by 3.3-percent year-on-year in January 2024 and the largest negative contributor to the drop was manganese, gold, and diamond production. But overall mineral sales did go up in the period. Chief economist at Investec, Annabel Bishop discussed this with eNCA.
