Minister Evelyn Anite defends termination of Tibet- Hima concession at Kilembe mines

The Minister of State for Finance in charge of Privatization and Investment Evelyn Anite says the termination of the 25-year mining lease by the Chinese firm Tibet Hima was in accordance with the law. Minister Anite told the parliamentary committee on Environment and Natural Resources that Gov’t discovered that Tibet Hima was only an assembling company and incompetent leading to its termination. The Minister revealed to the MPS that after termination of Tibet Hima, negotiations commenced led by the presidential advisor on defence and security Gen. Salim Saleh and a tune of 1,750,000 shillings was paid as outstanding arrears.
