Minister insists 'we do have money to spend' despite £22bn 'black hole'

Science Secretary Peter Kyle has insisted the government does "have money to spend" despite a £22bn "black hole" in public finances. He said: "I mean, government does have money to spend. It's how you actually invest." When asked why Labour is so concerned about the £22bn black hole, he added: "Because what you have to do is two simultaneous things. We have to fix the damage left that was inherited by the previous government, that awful £22bn black hole. But we also need to get the economy growing."
