Ryan Borgwardt, a kayaker who was reported missing Aug. 12 after he did not return home from Green Lake the previous night, appears to have faked his death and left the United States, the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office said in a stunning news conference. Their investigation uncovered evidence of a second passport, suspicious online activity, moving funds to foreign banks, communication with a woman believed to be from Uzbekistan, a new $375,000 life insurance policy and an airline gift card.
