BJP on Friday conferred the highest civilian award to another Congress stalwart and former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. However, behind the Bharat Ratna to Narasimha Rao lies the BJP's strategic and calculated political effort ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Apart from needling Congress, which has been accused by the BJP of "disrespecting" the former PM, the move is also an attempt by the party to reach out to voters in undivided Andhra Pradesh -- Rao's home state. Despite being one of the key figures behind India's economic revival, Rao's disconnect with the Gandhi family was well known. In fact, the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have repeatedly accused the Congress of "neglecting" Narasimha Rao and not celebrating his birth anniversary. An incident that is always harped by the opponents of the Congress to hit out at the party is when Rao's mortal remains were not allowed inside the party's headquarters in 2004. #pvnarasimharao #congress #bjp #rahulgandhi #akshitanandagopal #6pmprime #narendramodi #bharatratna #bharatratnaaward #indiatoday #indiatodaylive #preetichoudhary #mission2024 #tothepoint #msswaminathan #charansingh Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video.
