Money markets predict ‘good chance’ of a rate cut by February

Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says money markets now suggest there is a “good chance” the Reserve Bank will cut rates in February next year. Aussies were given no relief on Tuesday after the RBA left the cash rate on hold at 4.35 per cent during its final meeting of 2024. “If so, that’s good news for the government which has wanted to claim credit for rate cuts,” Mr Greenwood said. “But there is no doubt the economy continues to stumble along, barely above recessionary levels and households have been in their own personal recession for almost two years now.”
