More than 40,000 protest New Zealand Maori rights bill
Tens of thousands of people have marched on New Zealand’s parliament, angry at what they say is the government’s dismantling of rights for Indigenous Maori people. They’re protesting against a bill that looks to reinterpret the country’s founding document – a treaty signed by representatives of the British crown and more than 500 Maori chiefs 184 years ago.
