More understanding needed towards PWD

Discussion continues regarding the ability of members of the disabled community to access insurance. On Tuesday during parliamentary debate, it was raised within the context of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill, 2024. Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey highlighted the problem and tonight we hear directly from the disabled community. Now, the president of the Barbados Council for the Disabled Patricia Padmore-Blackman, says it is an uphill battle for those within the disabled community to get insurance. Contending that very few insurance companies have been amenable, she wants all of them to get on board. Ms. Padmore-Blackman says they have been advocating for years to be included by all insurers for various types of insurance.
