Mpox vaccine is 58% effective after 1 dose, study finds

A single dose of the mpox vaccine offers moderate protection against the virus, a new Canadian study has found. The study published Wednesday in the BMJ found that a single dose of the Modified vaccinia Ankara-Bavarian Nordic (MVA-BN) was 58 per cent effective in protecting against the mpox infection. While “moderate” protection might not sound impressive, researchers didn’t know how well the vaccine would work in a real-world outbreak.
