‘Multiple failures due to a bird strike’: Theory emerges over deadly plane crash in South Korea

Airline news editor Geoffrey Thomas has analysed the plane crash in South Korea which killed 179 people onboard and left only two alive. “The critical air traffic control data that comes from the aircraft, it’s called ADS-B, this tells air traffic control the altitude, speed, direction, etc of the aircraft, that’s how they track them,” he told Sky News Australia. “That turned off at 900 feet. Now, that never turns off until the aircraft gets to ... the terminal, so this flags possible electrical failures. “What we’re looking at probably here is multiple failures due to a bird strike.”
