Muslim female lawyers demand justice in sexual violence cases

Muslim female lawyers have called for justice for victims of sexual violence, stressing that Islam does not allow such abuses to prevail, especially in a family setting. The women lawyers from the Islamic Women Initiative for Justice, Law, and Peace, the Center for Health, Human Rights, and Development, and the Muslim Women Lawyers Alliance say there is a tendency to cover up such cases. They also want a witness protection law enacted to protect witnesses in such cases.
