NASA Captures Mysterious Red Sprite | WION Podcast
NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick, aboard the ISS, captured stunning red lights above South Africa. The phenomenon, called 'red sprite' lightning, occurs 37–56 miles above Earth in the mesosphere during thunderstorms. These high-altitude bursts appear red at higher altitudes and blue at lower heights due to atmospheric density. Dominick shared the image on social media, calling the event rare and difficult to capture. Red sprites last only milliseconds, adding to their mystery and highlighting the beauty of Earth's atmosphere. #nasa #redsprite #wionpodcast About Channel: WION The World is One News examines global issues with in-depth analysis.
