James ‘Jim’ Wedderburn, the first Barbadian to win an Olympic medal, was honoured with a bust at the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) Headquarters yesterday morning as a token of appreciation for his outstanding contribution to athletics. BOA President Sandra Osborne and Director of the Caribbean Wax Museum, Arthur Edwards, assisted in the unveiling. Wedderburn, a former student of The Lodge School, brought Barbados its first Olympic honour at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Italy, as part of the British West Indies team where he and his three Jamaican teammates won bronze in the 4x400 relay.
