Nation Update: Plan to have multimillion-dollar hospice before year-end

Barbados should have its first multimillion-dollar hospice care facility for the terminally ill this year. Trustee and public relations officer for the Barbados Association for Cancer Advocacy, Jessica Odle-Baril, said a site had been identified but it would still be some time before it was a reality. Addressing a media conference yesterday at The Sands Barbados in Worthing, Christ Church, Odle-Baril said the cost of the planned 14-bed hospice was around $5 million. They have raised around $150 000 so far but plans are for fundraising to go into full gear, with the diaspora also being called on for help. (Video by Shanice King)
