Nation Update: Schools Design Competition

The finalists of the Modern School Infrastructure Design Competition have been chosen. That was announced on Monday during an award ceremony held at Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill St Michael. When the competition was launched a few months ago, architects were encouraged to submit designs for nursery, primary, secondary and special needs schools. In the Nursery category submissions from Corey Evelyn, Ruth Durant-Sobers and Christopher Barnett were selected. Maurice Clarke, Alana Brooks, Durant-Sobers submitted designs that landed them in the finals of the competition. In the Secondary; Kevin Browne, Ian Best and Julia Kirton were selected, while in the special needs category, Evelyn, Kirton and Frederick Johnson were selected. The objective of the competition is to identify suitable concepts for modern school infrastructure in Barbados which capture the key factors for Education Transformation, Climate Resilience and Sustainable Infrastructure.
