National identification validation - Government receives new data center equipment

The Government of Uganda has received the first batch of 1,000 data center equipment kits, marking the beginning of the national identification card renewal and registration process. This consignment is part of a total of 5,556 units expected to support the nationwide operation. The equipment was officially handed over to Maj. Gen. Apollo Goa Kasiita, NIRA Board Member, and Rosemary Kisembo, Executive Director of NIRA, who revealed government plans to begin the large-scale renewal of national identification cards in the coming weeks. In a related statement, NIRA expressed appreciation for the tireless efforts of President Museveni and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, acknowledging the achievement as a significant milestone that has been long-awaited. The public has been urged to prepare for the upcoming validation exercise.
