The U.N. Biodiversity Summit, known as COP16, is underway in Cali, Colombia. Government delegates, experts, and civil society representatives are under pressure to take action and deliver a solid plan for biodiversity conservation. For more than two years, China held the position of COP15 president, leaving a legacy that includes the passing of important measures such as the 2022 Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework—a historic agreement committing nations to stop and reverse nature loss by 2030.
