A group of four NATO leaders and a representative from the European Union have admitted they will need to increase their defence spending. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressed calls by President-elect Donald Trump for NATO countries to increase their defence spending from two per cent. The incoming president has urged NATO countries to increase their defence spending to five per cent of GDP. Speaking at a press conference after the completion of the North-South Summit in Lapland, Finland, Mr Mitsotakis admitted the era of two per cent defence spending is “probably history”.
