NDIS projected to be most expensive area of government spending

The NDIS is on track to become the most expensive area of government spending within three years. According to the independent budget watchdog, the Disability Insurance Scheme will overtake the age pension within a decade if it continues its growth trajectory. Labor's attempts to cut annual growth have been delayed by a move in the Senate to send the overhaul legislation back to a second public hearing process. NDIS Minister Bill Shorten says the move is pointless and the delay will amount to $1.1 billion dollars of taxpayers' money.
