Nearly $98 million to supplement Estimates
Close to ninety-eight million dollars was voted in the House of Assembly last week to do the Government's business. Members of the House of Assembly voted in favour of the Resolution to move the significant sum of money from the Consolidated Fund, to be placed at the Government's disposal to supplement the 2023-2024 Estimates. Minister in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs Ryan Straughn said the forty-one million allocated to the Prime Minister's Office will support the ongoing construction of the Geriatric Hospital among other projects. Four of the seventeen million allocated to the Ministry of Transport and Works will be used for the procurement of equipment for the Ministry's operations. Minister of Agriculture Indar Weir says that close to five million dollars for his Ministry will assist with addressing outstanding issues farmers are facing. The Ministry of Home Affairs will be receiving two point five million to support the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation's pension plan and operation costs. Six hundred thousand has been allocated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, twelve million to the Ministry of Tourism, two million to the Ministry of Finance, three point five million to the Ministry of Environment, close to six million will be going to the Ministry of Health and close to nine million to the Ministry of Housing, Lands, and Maintenance.
