Neighbour arrested for kidnapping and murder

A neighbour arrested for the kidnapping and murder of 8-year-old Lukhololwam Mkontwana will not be applying for bail. 31-year-old Aphiwe Vakele, who is facing a premeditated murder charge, has appeared at the Athlone Magistrate's Court. The state says should Vakele later seek bail, they will oppose it as cell phone records and DNA have linked him to the case committed in 2022.
